The National Day of Mourning, held annually in Canada on April 28th, is dedicated to remembering those who have lost their lives, or suffered injury or illness on the job or due to a work-related tragedy.

In 2014, 919 workplace deaths were recorded in Canada – that’s more than 2.5 deaths every single day.

This day is as much about a commitment to safer workplaces as it is about remembering those who were killed or injured on the job:

To remember and honour those killed or seriously injured on the job, RTL-Westcan employees will be holding a minute of silence on Thursday, April 28th, beginning at 11:59 am local time.
